- Look at multiple dimensions, not one final score — location, ASN info, and network type viewed separately tell you more than a single blended risk number
- Check the data's freshness — if a tool shows a database version or last-updated timestamp, trust the more recently updated one
- Validate against real-world signals — whether an account actually gets throttled, or a payment actually gets challenged, is often more telling than any single tool's score
